THE POSITION
 
Audit Manager
 
 
THE COMPANY
 
The firm is a well-established medium-sized international accounting firm with a worldwide network of over 18,000 people and offices in 93 countries.
 
 
THE ROLE’S OBJECTIVE
 
To ensure that all work allocated is carried out profitably and on a timely basis in accordance with the Firm’s professional standards and to the satisfaction of Clients and engagement partners.  Further, to ensure that all subordinated staff are being developed to the maximum of their potential and to assist in the development of the Firm
 
 
THE DUTIES
 
Client Work:
 
  • To free the Partner from detailed involvement in planning, co-ordination, control and review;
 
  • To plan and allocate the workload of the department/group thereby ensuring that work is carried out within the time limits agreed with the client;
 
  • To ensure the staff are fully and properly briefed prior to any assignment;
 
  • To maintain good client relationships, to keep up-to-date with any significant changes in client affairs and to identify opportunities for selling additional services;
 
  • To keep the engagement Partner informed of any client development;
 
  • To liaise with the managers in other departments (e.g. Tax) who also deal with the client; and
 
  • To keep oneself technically up-to-date.
 
Staff Control:
 
  • To plan the workload of subordinated staff so as to make the most effective use of them, bearing in mind the need to make work loads as interesting as possible and to provide opportunities for personal development:
 
  • To ensure that subordinated staff are properly supervised, instructed and trained, that their performance is assessed in accordance with the Firm’s requirements and that their future development is also planned;  and
 
  • To assist as required with recruitment, appraisal and counseling of staff.
 
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
  • ACCA qualified or equivalent;
 
  • Experienced in auditing a mixed client base;  and
 
  • Should preferably have at least 5 years' working experience.
