SOURCING DIRECTOR

Our client is a Hong Kong-listed company. It is a diversified holding company with business divisions in the electronics sector, construction tools, magnetics and metrology industries serving consumer, business and industrial needs. Our client has manufacturing subsidiaries operating in the People's Republic of China, the UK and elsewhere, with regional sales offices in UK, Europe, Asia, Australasia, Japan and the USA. The Group employs about 3,000 people worldwide
 
TITLE:                        Sourcing Director
 
LOCATION:                Hangzhou, China
 
THE POSITION:
Main objective of the hire is to develop centralised Group purchasing strategy to obtain best prices, on best possible terms, from suppliers who can offer consistently good quality products and services and reliable delivery.
 
 
Job Summary:
The Sourcing Director must be a seasoned professional with purchasing, and client interfacing experience (mainly with the Managing Directors and purchasing staff of subsidiary companies in the Group).
 
The functions include the following:
 
 Analyse all major purchasing activities of Group companies. In conjunction with the Managing Directors of Group companies, the Sourcing Manager identifies and classifies materials into categories on the basis of potential for savings – Class A offers greatest savings; Class B offers moderate savings, and Class C offers little savings. The objective is, over time, to move more and more product categories into Class A.
 
 Analyse the Group’s purchasing requirements across all Group companies to identify common materials or common categories in order to develop a centralised purchasing strategy, realise economies of scale and unlock synergies.
 
 Conducts analysis of the supplier marketplace and market dynamics in order to assess present and future competitiveness and availability trends.
 
 Conducts or assists in “supplier audit” to qualify suppliers.
 
 Negotiates better prices and purchasing terms with suppliers than those that Group companies can negotiate for themselves.
 
 Develops and maintains key supplier relationships, and is instrumental in resolving disputes between Group companies and suppliers, including in relation to quality issues.
 
 
Responsibilities:

 Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategy and ensure milestones are consistently met.
 
 Communicate effectively and build relationships with clients.
 
 
Required Skills:
 Strong influencing and change management skills
 Negotiation skills
 Strong leadership skills combined with a consistent work ethics
 Experience in the manufacturing industry (Electronics, Construction hand tools, Lawn and Garden Tools etc) is preferred
 Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant purchasing experience
 Self-starter, deadline and detail oriented, great persuasive and follow-up skills
